Zone detection
Detects entry and exit via GPS position, direction, and route geometry.
SpeedCam BG
An Android app for tracking average-speed sections in Bulgaria - in real time, via GPS.
About the app
SpeedCam BG uses local data for average-speed sections and your current GPS position to detect zone entry and exit, calculate average speed, and show the limit by vehicle type.
How it works
On every GPS sample the app evaluates proximity to checkpoints, keeps an active session in the zone, and updates the warning based on average speed versus the limit.
Detects entry and exit via GPS position, direction, and route geometry.
Accumulates distance and time and shows a corrected average speed.
Shows a risk level - from normal to heightened attention - based on average versus the limit.
Modes of use
SpeedCam BG is designed for different driving scenarios. The same location and average-speed engine powers three separate interfaces.
Integration with the in-car display via Android Auto. Zone and average-speed info appears on the head unit while the phone stays connected.
A floating layer over other apps - e.g. Google Maps or Waze. Track average speed without leaving your main navigation.
The full phone UI. Best when the app is the main screen while traveling, or when you want a detailed view before and after the zone.
Technology
Built as a native Android solution with a modern UI layer and dedicated components for location, maps, and Android Auto.
Native Android Kotlin with a declarative UI via Jetpack Compose and Material 3.
Precise GPS updates via the Fused Location Provider for zone detection and average-speed calculation.
Visualization of sections, routes, and current position via Google Maps Compose.
Official Car App API for Android Auto - POI and HUD templates on the in-car screen.
Foreground services for continuous location tracking and for overlay mode over other apps.
Official average-speed sections load from packaged local data - no online server required for the core feature.
Available for Android. Supports Android Auto, navigation overlay, and standalone use.
